David Simon lecture on the fate of journalism

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , on January 9, 2010 by pictureplane

David Simon gives a lecture that touches on the aspirations of the wire and some of the themes in it that may not be ovious to all viewers. Especially interesting is @ 39:20 where he asks the audience,

“What was the main theme of the
newspaper story (in season 5)?”

Im ashamed to say i hadnt really noticed what he said was the major theme and i wonder if its this problem that has left many people disapointed with the fifth season as a whole? He gets a bit sidetracked explaining his big meta moment with the wire but he finishes the thought in the Q and A section as a response to the question @ 1:06:38.
